Tolworth Station Community Garden (The Cutting)

All are welcome to help create a community garden at Tolworth Station, behind our new community hub and kitchen 'Baking Ideas'. The proposed herb and wildlife garden will give residents access to a safe outdoor meeting place, encourage biodiversity and allow people to take cuttings from the herbs.

What is this service?

The Community Brain was founded as a Community Interest Company in 2010 on a simple belief: everyone is brilliant if they are given the help and support to be brilliant.

Our vision is to allow people to participate on their own terms. We want to provide greater opportunities and support so people can realise the positive and sustainable impact they can have on themselves, those around them, and where they live.

Over the past four years, The Community Brain has been running a community-led regeneration project in Kingston upon Thames called SHEDx – Growing Ideas in Tolworth (www.shedx.org)

As part of the project, we formally ‘adopted’ Tolworth Station, fitted a community kitchen and meeting space called ‘Baking Ideas’ and recently signed the lease on a piece of overgrown land behind our unit.

The community garden at Tolworth Station, also know as 'The Cutting', is being started in March 2022 through a series of inclusive gardening sessions which aim to connect neighbours, reduce social isolation and support the community’s wellbeing.

We have two regular volunteer session for people to attend:

  • Every Tuesday (10:30am -12:30pm)

  • Every first Sunday of the month (11am - 2pm)
