The Creative Wellbeing Project: Nurturing the Wellbeing of Expectant Mothers

[LONDON, UK] — The Collective Arts Group is delighted to announce that with generous backing from The National Lottery Community Fund, 50 fully grant-funded places on The Creative Wellbeing Project will be open to pregnant women across the UK. This distinctive program, which integrates art therapy with creative activities and positive psychology (the science of human thriving), is crafted to refuel the wellbeing of expecting mothers, foster a supportive community, and enrich the pregnancy experience.

“Pregnancy marks a profound period of change in a woman’s life, and while it is often a joyful time, it can also bring worries and fears,” says Julia Ruppert, an HCPC registered Art Therapist and the course facilitator. “The Creative Wellbeing Project aims to empower and support women on their journey to parenthood."

As investing in the wellbeing of expecting mothers can significantly impact maternal and foetal health, the programme champions the importance of self-care and encouraging expecting women to cultivate a calm and positive mindset.

In collaboration with West Middlesex University Hospital, The Creative Wellbeing Project is currently entering its 4th year. Encouraged by participant recommendations, the programme is now reaching out to include women from across the UK.

“This programme provided me with a community connection and access to connect with other mums-to-be,” shares a recent participant. “It gave me something each week that made me make time for myself during my pregnancy. It was such a positive, calming, and relaxing experience, and I always felt better in myself following each session.”

Each live online course spans five weeks and accommodates up to 10 participants for a 1.5-hour session each week. Additionally, every participant will receive a free art kit delivered to their door. Beyond the grant-funded option, women can also choose to ‘pay their experience forward’ by self-funding their course or contributing through a donation.
