What is this service?

Hatha Yoga at Be Happy Yoga is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. If you join as a beginner, you will benefit from observing many students who already have a very established yoga practice. Thanks to many modifications and options, everyone finds the class interesting, approachable, rewarding, and enjoyable.

It’s an excellent complement to more dynamic styles like YogaFlow or YogaStrong plus gentle practices such as YogaChill, allowing students to explore the more technical and foundational elements of yoga breathwork and asana.

Hatha Yoga is a traditional yoga style that focuses on slow, mindful movement, precise postures (asanas), and breath control (pranayama). Yoga means union and the word “Hatha” comes from the Sanskrit words “ha” meaning sun and “tha” meaning moon, symbolising the balance of opposing energies – strength and ease, activity and calm.

Hatha Yoga offers a gentle but strengthening practice that connects body, breath, and mind, creating greater inner harmony. This class emphasises alignment and precision, often holding postures longer than in dynamic styles to deepen awareness and experience of the energetic effects of each pose.

This practice is rooted in the yogic principles of Sukham (ease) and Sthiram (steadiness) – teaching us how to maintain stability in the body paired with comfort and relaxation.

What to Expect

  • A varied class with weekly themes focusing on different breathwork techniques and yoga postures

  • Slower pace to allow time to refine alignment, cultivate precision, and deeply feel each posture’s impact

  • Use of props like the wall for support and alignment assistance

  • Classes ending with savasana, a deep relaxation to integrate your practice

  • Small group setting ensuring plenty of individual attention from the teacher
