Health Visiting

Health Visitors are all qualified nurses, who specialise in child development and health promotion. They will be able to advise you on all aspects of development and health promotion until your child is 5 years old.

What is this service?

If at any time during your child's first 5 years you have concerns around behaviour, development, feeding or anything that is causing you anxiety, the Health Visiting service is here to help. To get in contact with the service call 020 8339 8000 or email hvadminhub@yourhealthcare.org

Mental Health Support

Monday Mums: a peer support group for mothers experiencing low mood and/or anxiety. The group runs for 6 weeks on a Monday 10-12pm alternating between Tolworth Children’s Centre and Old Malden Children’s Centre. Referrals come from Health Visitors, ICOPE, Perinatal Mental Health Team, GP’s we also welcome self referrals. E-mail us to self-refer.

Infant Feeding Support

Pop along to a drop-in on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday or speak to your Midwife /Health Visitor/Nursery nurse regarding a referral for more specialist 1-1 support.

Introduction to Solids & Play Development

For advice and support when your baby is ready to move on from milk alone and what to expect when your baby reaches 6 months. Monday’s and Friday’s at 1pm at Children’s Centres. Book here.

Antenatal Groups

We offer antenatal contact from 28 weeks. Contact your Health Visitor or book your free place online.

Postnatal Groups

Postnatal group for mothers with babies under 12 weeks. These sessions are run over 4 weeks and are undertaken within the children centres and include: bonding and attachment, Emotional Wellbeing/Baby Massage Taster, Crying/Sleeping and Communication/Play. Please speak to your Health Visitor to book your place.

Well Baby Clinic

General health clinic open to families with children under the age of 4. Drop in clinics available. See here for more information.

Support for young mums

Babettes Young Mums antenatal Group: Under 24’s antenatal group which runs Fridays 1.30-3pm for 6 weeks every half term at The Hub, 38 Surbiton Road, KT1 2JR. Learn about signs of labour, when to call the hospital, labour and pain relief as well as feeding baby, bringing baby home, attachment, what to expect in the early days and contraception. Babes Young Mums Postnatal Group: Under 24’s drop-in postnatal group offering health advice and support with housing and benefits. Runs every Tuesday 1.30-3.30pm at The Hub, 38 Surbiton Road, KT1 2LR. For further information email the Health Visitors.

MECSH

The Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting programme is a structured program of home visiting for families.

The programme provides professional support for you and your family as your baby grows and develops. It is available to families who meet the criteria. Contact your Health Visitor for more info.
