Our Elders Empowerment Programme aims to help older people in the community maintain their wellbeing. Our members are predominately Tamils but we welcome people from all backgrounds. We are running exercise sessions over Zoom, including yoga, dance and Tai Chi

The Elders Empowerment Programme is a service designed to improve Physical, Mental and Intellectual wellbeing of elderly people through health talks, advice on health issues, book club and physical exercises enabling them to live a healthy life.
The programme supports elderly Tamils by providing activities in their first language but we welcome people from all backgrounds. All of our physical activity sessions are held in English.
Our usual weekly timetable is:

10:00am - 11:00am 'Keep fit' session
11:00am – 12:30pm Activities held in Tamil. This includes a variety of activities, such as discussions, health talks, book clubs, quizzes, and celebrating festivals
Friday
Traditional celebrations are some of our main activities, including Thai Pongal Harvest Festival and Deepavali. Religious events and national holidays are tightly woven into EEP’S overall cultural identity.
Celebrating our traditions help keep us grounded in our own culture while adapting to a new one. They also can help us connect with fellow compatriots.
