What is this service?

The charity: we have a 30 year history and have shown that enjoying and learning about the river on board our specially adapted and wheelchair-accessible boats, is a very special experience. It brings relaxation, health and personal development benefits unique to the river setting – as shown by our many clients who rebook year after year.

Cruises: we provide therapeutic day and half day cruises for older people and for people of all ages with a physical disability, a learning disability, or a mental health condition. Max 12 people per cruise including carers.

Environmental Education: we run curriculum linked KS1 & KS2 education and learning programmes for Primary School children. For 1 class per day of up to 35 children, plus teachers and adult helpers.

Volunteer: we recruit and train volunteers for a variety of roles. We have more than 70 amazing volunteers and could not function without them. They act as crew, skippers, river educators, do maintenance on the boats and help in the office and at events. Our volunteers are part of the River Thames Boat Project family and benefit from this particularly stimulating and rewarding work on the river.
