What is this activity?

We offer an array wildlife conservation activities, focused across the Kingston borough harnessing a rewilding narrative. We work in nature reserves and greenspaces, working to enhance the land for the wildlife and the community. We are also working on species reintroductions.

Citizen Zoo works to pioneer community led conservation through a rewilding narrative. By this we mean we want to 'Rewild People' i.e educate and reconnect them to the natural world. We also work to 'Rewild our Land', this means we want our environment and ecosystems to function well, supporting a wealth of biodiversity. This makes our land more resilient, more aesthetic and provides more services that are critical to human and community well being.

We work across the Kingston Borough, with the aim to provide outstanding nature reserves and exceptional greenspaces, making Kingston a leading borough for the environment, and how our local people engage with the natural world that surrounds though is seldom noticed.

We run weekly conservation days and that are both on weekends and weekdays, carrying out all sorts of conservation objectives. Such as planting trees and hedgerows, creating habitats such as ponds and tackling invasive species.

We also are focused on species reintroductions where appropriate. We are currently running a community led water vole project, which one day will see these charismatic critters returning to our water ways.

There are so many ways in which you can get involved so please do get in touch.
