What is this group?

Our vision

A free-to-join community of Kingston-based businesses and organisations of all sizes and sectors, from well established to start-ups.

The Kingston Green Business Community aims to help members to save resources, as well as reducing their environmental impact and running costs.

Collaborative work with academia, sustainability experts and other organisations will lead to the co-creation of solutions to reduce local emissions and access funding.

Activities

Networking 

  • Connecting all businesses and organisations that have an interest in achieving net-zero emissions through adoption of sustainable solutions

  • Sharing best practices, project ideas, knowledge and intelligence and promoting peer to peer learning

  • Bringing  together businesses with academics, policy makers, training providers, ecological and social entrepreneurs and stimulating eco-innovation 

  • Facilitating opportunities for businesses to identify new potential customers and markets 

  • Encouraging peer to peer mentoring

Knowledge sharing 

  • Developing a repository of complementary skill sets, capacity and expertise to help businesses participate in a greener economy

  • Signposting to other relevant websites and agencies

Capacity building  

  • Organising and facilitating participation in workshops, training related to green skills development and other events to learn about net-zero emissions and relevant solutions; raise awareness of business opportunities created from the transition to a green economy; and access programmes and funding aiming to develop green skills, eco-innovation and/or reduce the negative impact of business activities on the environment.

Recognition  

  • Maintaining an online database of Kingston Green Business Community members and documenting best practice case studies

  • Promoting projects and businesses that adopt sustainable solutions and make a positive impact on the environment

  • Creating opportunities for businesses to add environmental and socio-economic value to other local community groups and across the Borough

Membership

Membership is free and the community is open to all businesses and organisations based and/or operating in Kingston. The Kingston Green Business Community is linked with other existing and future green and wider business communities with similar objectives.

You can apply to become a member of Kingston Green Business Community by completing this form. Please also read through our Code of Practice to understand and agree with the terms.
