Bowls clubs are great places to relax and meet new friends. In the clubhouse at Hook & Southborough we have our own club bar and it’s a good place to socialise and feel a part of the local community.
Bowls is a relatively inexpensive sport to play. You only really need a pair of shoes that have flat soles like trainers. Our club have spare sets of bowls that you can try out.
The club also organises various social events like Quiz Evenings and Race Nights for members to take part in throughout the year.
As well as playing against other club members, the club organise friendly matches against other clubs in Kingston. We play men, ladies and mixed games. We also play in the Kingston & District League, Racal Decca Mixed League, Evening Mixed Triples League and Club Single Day Events.
I joined the club last year with my friend Yvonne as a complete beginner. We both love playing bowls and really enjoy the company and social side.
