Fastminds Adult ADHD Support Group

Fastminds offers an informal supportive environment where members can feel safe sharing their experiences of living with ADHD (diagnosed and undiagnosed) and co-occurring conditions, and learn from others about ways to help them live well as a Neurodivergent (ND) person.

What is this service?

The Fastminds Adult ADHD Support Group (often simply referred to as Fastminds) is a relaxed, friendly peer-led not-for-profit group that was founded in 2013.

Our aim is to promote and protect the physical and mental health of adults affected by ADHD, improve their quality of life, and promote social inclusion among adults with ADHD (and suspected ADHD) in Kingston and surrounding areas.

Our regular support group meetings (held in-person in Kingston and online) and Discord channel offer members the opportunity to have open discussions and learn from the experiences of others, including specialist speakers on topics related to ADHD.

We also deliver training and support to organisations wanting to improve their understanding of the nuances about ADHD and related topics, and are currently looking for Volunteers and Trustees to help us work towards becoming a charity.

Why are we called Fastminds?

We chose FASTMINDS as the name of our group as it’s an acronym commonly used to describe some of the indicators that a person may have ADHD:

·     Forgetful

·     Achieving below potential

·     Stuck in a rut

·     Time challenged

·     Motivationally challenged

·     Impulsive

·     Novelty seeking

·     Distractible

·     Scattered

Unfortunately the majority of our members received a late diagnosis of ADHD, and some who join us either already have a diagnosis of another ND condition(s) - or go on to receive one or more.

Consequently, many also have hidden disabilities and chronic health problems related to being Neurodivergent, such as issues related to hypermobility, trauma, etc.
