What is this service?

Welcome to Express.

Express is an independent user led voluntary sector organisation supporting autistic young people and their families. We are not a commissioned service.

We are not funded to provide our professional services and therefore do have to charge for those but this does mean we are not restricted by boundaries so we are open to all and all are very welcome to attend any of our events or groups.

Please see details of fees where funded by parent/carers https://www.expresscic.org.uk/fees . Professional referrals are on a case by case basis and as part of a multi agency package (different costs apply).

Below is a summary of the services we provide and support groups we run. All our therapy services are run by qualified counsellors or therapists experienced in working with autistic children and young people. Our therapists have completed PDA society training. All our therapies and groups have an assessment process prior to an offer being made to ensure the service is providing the best support for both the individual and the group.

In brief we offer:

Counselling for parent/carers

Specialist Counselling for autistic adults

Specialist Counselling for autistic young people aged 11+

Connect Clubs for autistic young adults aged 16-19 and 19-25

Creative Therapy 1:1 & small groups for autistic young people aged 5+ including girls groups & teen groups

Creative Therapy Outreach for family and 1:1s

Drama Club for autistic young people aged 8+

Production & Film Club for autistic young people aged 16-25

Siblings groups

Workshops and events https://www.expresscic.org.uk/events/

In addition we offer peer support for parents / carers in the form of a Mum’s group, Dad’s group and a specific PDA group. These are both online and in person. Please indicate on our registration form if you would like to be added to our WhatsApp groups, specifying which one. There is a wealth of peer support and experience shared.

We offer support both pre and post diagnosis. **Whilst our peer support services are free, there is a charge for therapy and counselling services. **We rely on donations and fundraising to ensure this is heavily subsidised. Bursary places may be available where there is evidenced need and we have financial capacity. In some cases organisations, schools and professionals buy in the service from us.

Please note: We offer predominantly low level preventative work but we are also able to offer specialist packages for a higher level of need where the referral is direct from an NHS service for example SWL ICB and funding has already been agreed.

To join our services please sign up to our eNewsletter here and complete our registration form and return to [email protected]. Please let us know if you would like to be sent a referral form for any of our therapy services or clubs.

Please let us know if you would like any further details about our support groups or any of our other services, or if you would like to book a telephone appointment.

Our facebook page has lots of information including a link to join our closed forum for additional peer support. We also have some upcoming events Events | Express CIC
