What is this group?

Young Adult Carers' Peer Support

This group is for our young adult carers, aged from 16 to 21. The group meet on the first and third Friday of each month (excluding bank holidays) from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at Chessington Sports Centre. For more information, or to come along, contact Emily on [email protected].

Support Group for Carers of Adults who are Neurodivergent

This support group is for parents and carers of adults who are neurodivergent. Whether your loved one has autism, ADHD, a learning disability, or another neurodivergent condition, find support, share experiences, and learn together.

The group meets from 10.00am to 12.00pm on the last Monday of each month (unless it is a bank holiday) in Room 41, Ground floor, Guildhall Building, Kingston, KT1 1EU. Refreshments are provided. We ask that you book a space each month by emailing [email protected] or by calling 020 3031 2757.

Support Group for Carers of People with a Mental Health Condition

This support group is for carers of people with a mental health condition or mental ill health. The group is facilitated by David, Deputy CEO, and meets from 6.00pm to 7.15pm on the second Tuesday of each month at Hillcroft in Surbiton. The group sometimes welcomes guest speakers and when this is the case, the group finishes a little later.

Lunch Group for Carers of People with Dementia

KCN runs a monthly lunch support group to give carers of people with dementia the chance to meet informally with others in a similar situation to themselves. It is an opportunity for peer support and to share experiences, information and expertise in a safe and non-judgemental space. The group occasionally invites professionals to come to the lunches to talk about their work and local services.

The lunch group meets once a month on a weekday from 12.00pm to 2.00pm at different venues in the Kingston area. In order to offer opportunity and variety to carers, the date and venue are arranged in advance month to month at either a local restaurant, cafe or pub. Carers are usually offered a two course meal and a drink and make a £5 cash contribution on the day. Bookings are made via e-mail invitation for carers who have registered and consented to receive information about the dementia carers' support group. Carers can contact the office by email or by calling 020 3031 2757 to give consent to receive the e-mail invitation if they have not already done so.

Support for Male Carers

Male Carers Group – Connect, Share, and Take a Break

Many of our male carers have told us they’d value the chance to connect with others in a similar role—so we’ve launched a dedicated group just for male carers, offering both online and in-person meetups.

Our regular online social meetings provide a relaxed space to chat with fellow carers and enjoy a mix of fun and informative activities, including quizzes, member-led presentations, and advice sessions.

We also organise in-person events, such as walks, lunches, pub visits, and more. Our first outing was a fascinating guided nature walk with a scything demonstration (pictured above!).

There’s no commitment required—just join in when you can. New members are always welcome, so if you’re curious, come along to a meeting and see what it’s all about.

Social Activities for Male Carers

We offer regular social activities exclusively for male carers—a chance to relax, connect, and have some fun with others who understand the caring role.

🎳 Ten-Pin Bowling

We meet roughly every couple of weeks at Hollywood Bowl in Tolworth, usually around 6pm on a weekday evening. No experience or skill required—just come along and enjoy yourself! Newcomers are always welcome.

💬 Online Meetups

We also host informal online meetings where male carers can chat, share experiences, and support one another. These sessions are relaxed and friendly. If you’re new to Zoom or need help getting set up, support is available.

🏰 Group Outings

Past trips have included visits to Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court Palace, the Tower of London, and the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon. More exciting outings are planned for the future.

🍽️ Additional Activities

We also organise ad hoc lunches, pub meetups, cooking sessions, and other events throughout the year. Suggestions for new activities are always welcome—we’d love to hear your ideas.

💬 What other male carers have said:

“a great morale booster”

“I’ve got to know other people in similar situations and gained strength from them”

“I’ve really enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie”
