Since summer 2016, volunteers have been transforming the neglected edge of Canbury Gardens into a productive, wildlife-friendly, community garden.
If you’d like to learn more about wildlife-friendly gardening, or you're a keen gardener with skills you could share, or you’d enjoy working alongside other people to grow herbs and other foods, come along to one of our events or weekend gardening sessions. There's always plenty to do, depending on the season, your abilities and the time you can spare.

Children accompanied by a responsible adult are welcome too.
The basic principle is that those that do the work share in the harvest - and we have had some excellent harvests of runner and broad beans, tomatoes, herbs, courgettes, spinach and more.
Canbury Community Chicken Collective keep a few chickens in a run in the garden; they are out and about during gardening sessions and fun to watch.
There's plenty of evidence that outdoor activity can help fight depression - though that's not the only reason to come along!
Good to know
- Cost: Free
- What to wear: Sensible shoes are a must. We have some gardening gloves but you may prefer to bring your own.
- Getting here: We are between Kingston Riverside \[tennis\] Club and Kings’ Passage, with a gate from Canbury Gardens near the bandstand and Secret Cafe,
- Parking: There is no parking on site, but some nearby on Lower Ham Road beside Canbury Gardens or in Seven Kings multi-storey carpark.
