Inspire Sport offers weekly Monday evening sessions during term time which are huge fun for members, volunteers and parents/carers. We organise holiday excursions to the beach, theatre and venues such as the Bluebell Railway.
Our aim is to help members take responsibility and ownership within a safe environment. Members learn to feel they belong, and are valued, and our social sporting group is helping them boost their self esteem during a pivotal time in their lives.
Our core values we help members to develop are:
COMMUNICATION - each session starts with a circle-of-members sharing what they have done in the past week and what they hope to do in the session and next week. They learn communication is the art of listening as well as speaking.
CONFIDENCE - members build their confidence by developing the resolve to participate and work with team mates and volunteers to succeed.
RESILIENCE - members develop the strength to persevere when the going gets tough.
TEAMWORK - by working together in teams members learn they can achieve more than they can on their own.
PROBLEM SOLVING - we try different ways to overcome difficulties and eventually succeed.
Our sessions are held on Monday evenings from 6pm - 7.30pm during term times at St Philip's School gym. The facilities are accessible for members with special needs and wheelchair access. We cater for a variety of members and offer a free 'taster session' for new members to come and try.
I have been a member for 6 years. I continue to attend because I like doing all the different sports and I have made lots of friends" - Emily
