What do Grow Wild Volunteers do?
We meet weekly, getting hands-on with green spaces through conservation and management of habitats, parklands, and woodlands using a variety of ecological methods.
Where do we meet?
Sessions run three Thursdays a month in The Copse / Ham Avenues. The fourth week of the month we meet on Monday at Ham Lands.
What should I bring/wear?
We go out whatever the weather! Make sure you bring good outdoor shoes, waterproofs/sun cream as necessary, and bring water/snacks for yourself. Think about wearing clothes you feel comfortable in, and which you don't mind getting dirty.
How will I benefit?
Grow Wild looks great as work experience on your CV, and you can even work towards an AQA Qualification. The sessions are amazing for your fitness and practical skills, and the social activity in nature helps grow good mental health.
We meet outdoors most Thursdays and the odd Monday on two different sites. Both meeting points are easy to access by bus.
Send us an email or just drop in! No experience required.
Wear comfortable clothes suitable for the weathers and working outdoors! Wear good shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
Make sure to bring water, and sun cream / waterproofs where appropriate.
I've gained so much confidence and new skills with Grow Wild
