What is this activity?

Community Drumming Workshops are for families to learn how to play various percussion instruments and world rhythms together as a drumming band.

The workshops include fun drumming games, help develop creativity, and allow students to compose their own rhythms.

Students will have an opportunity to perform and showcase what they have learn and composed during the drumming program at a public event for parents, friends and families.

Community Drumming was founded to spread the benefits of group drumming, such as improved physical, mental and social well-being. It has also been shown to benefit child development.

Through rhythmic drumming activities, children will benefit in the following key areas:

  • providing a fun and energetic way for children to develop their gross and fine motor skills.

  • providing a cooperative experience and teamwork

  • creative expression through drumming also nurtures imagination

Workshops take place:

  • Every Wednesday 1:30-2:30pm at the Searchlight Community Centre in New Malden (KT3 3RX), and

  • Every Thursday 4-5pm at The Hook Centre in Chessington (KT9 1EJ).

£10 drop-in fee per family.

We prefer payments to be process by card but cash is also fine.
