What is this service?

The Community Library Service (CLS) provides a service for anyone who because of disability, frailty or caring responsibilities cannot get to a library. Temporary membership is possible when recovering from illness, hospital admission or surgery.

The CLS will visit individual residents on a monthly basis and can bring normal print books, large print books, spoken word CDs or tapes, music CDs, DVDs or videos - plus jigsaws. They speak with the borrower to ensure the collection they bring matches the interests and needs of the individual.

The service can also visit care homes and sheltered housing to deliver to individuals or to leave items in communal areas for all to enjoy.

This service operates across the borough, and staff can be contacted by phone or email. Volunteers with DBS checks will help to deliver the books.
