Volunteer Screening and Training

All volunteers are DBS-checked with references, and receive training on health and safety, safeguarding, and disability awareness. Volunteers complete supervised shadowing sessions and maintain ongoing contact with coordinators.

Cost

Buddy Up is free. Parents and guardians only cover activity or transport costs for their young person, while Buddy Up covers volunteer costs.

Meeting Frequency

Meetings are flexible based on the young person’s needs, typically happening twice a month. Volunteers stay in regular contact, and any breaks, such as for exams, are communicated through coordinators.

Wait Times for a Buddy

Young people can attend group outings while waiting for a buddy.
