Event description

Sunday 22 February, 9.30am to 11am: Studio 366, Molesey, Surrey

This 90-minute workshop is designed for people living with osteoporosis or low bone density, and for anyone who wants clearer guidance on how to practise yoga mindfully.

The session is practical with a focus on how to move in ways that support bone health, improve posture and balance, build strength gradually, and reduce fear around movement.

The workshop will include:

  • A guided relaxation to settle the nervous system, increase awareness and connect with breath and body

  • Simple, evidence-informed movement to build strength and balance in ways shown to reduce fracture risk

  • Clear guidance on what to avoid with osteoporosis 

  • How to safely adapt the main types of yoga poses, including standing, seated, flexion, twists, side-bending, extension and inversions

  • Practical options for practising on the mat, in a chair, standing, or a combination of all three

  • How to adapt common yoga sequences, including sun salutations and moon-inspired flows, so they remain supportive rather than risky

  • Ways to gently improve confidence, mobility and trust in your body over time.

You’re welcome to move, rest or observe at any point. The emphasis is on awareness, understanding and choice.

This workshop is suitable for people at different stages, including those recovering from fracture, and aims to leave you feeling informed, steadier and more confident about continuing yoga or movement safely, whether now or in the future.
