5 Mile Walk

A homeless person walks on average 15 miles a day. Without a safe, stable home, reaching disparate and separate services for basics such as; food, hygiene, and medical care, can require a full day of travel.

Constant movement is required to find places to generate income or simply to avoid harassment and the damaging shame of being told to move along, again.

This unending motion; seeking support, services or simply the next safe spot, is crucial for survival but the results are damaging for physical and mental health. Poor foot health, injuries, ulcers and infections are commonplace, and the effects of instability and shame on a person's mental health cannot be understated.

A person experiencing homelessness when walking becomes simply a person walking, rendering the struggle of their daily life invisible.

On 11/10/25 (meet:3:30pm, walk starts: 4pm, estimated finish: 6pm) we will be walking a 3rd of that distance in a small attempt to understand the impact of having no fixed place to rest, recharge, or shelter.

While there is no registration fee, a donation of £20 (or more...) to KCAH for this organised event would make a big difference to our efforts to bring support to those who need us in their time of crisis.

We have allocation for 100 people to join the walk and it would be amazing to fill that allocation and raise as much money as we can, we know it's short notice so it may be difficult to raise funds before the event, however, if you feel proud to have taken part and walked 5 miles, we will leave the donation page running until the 1st of November.
